  1. Hi David. Does the Sony go into ‘auto gain’ mode via the hotshoe connector? Whenever I use the Sony mic that way, it’s just auto with no manual gain.

You can adjust gain from the transmitter to receiver but if the gain is low from the transmitter, doesn’t the camera automatically turn it up from the receiver?

That might raise noise in a quiet environment with a low signal from the transmitter.

    1. The receiver still runs the same settings as if it was plugged in via the 3.5mm cable. On the Sony mics, have you checked the mic settings to see if auto gain is on? I don’t think I’ve ever had my camera do auto gain.

    2. Thanks for getting back, David. My E10 goes straight into auto with no manual once the hotshoe connector is attached. No audio settings available. I’ll have another look…..

    3. @@iancraig Super interesting Craig! Didn’t know that was a thing on the E10!

  2. Excellent as usual !!! Is the input to the Sony analog or Digital when using the new adapter?

  3. 👍 Any idea when it might be available? I can’t find it from a legit source.

  4. This is such a good change! I have the previous DJI Mic 1 and always had that awkward 3.5mm cable. No cable = Much better! 🔥🏆 thanks!

    1. Such a solid upgrade! Since it’s powered by the camera, I may just leave it attached to the adapter out of the case. If they came out with a secondary case that could hold this and the windmuffs, I would buy in an instant!

  5. does it by chance keep the receiver charged or no? I’m assuming no, but would be nice.

    1. it does he says that near the end. It doesn’t auto power on an off with the camera which is a shame.

  6. Knew I could count on you to see if it worked with the DJI Mic 1!

    W video 👍🏽

  7. The noise that people are getting is not from wireless signals – it’s from a grounding issue with the devices – either the camera or the mic receiver. I have the same issue with the Rode Go II and the Rode Wireless PRO – with the FX3 – but not with the A7C or the A7CII – if you use the FX3 mic – which has the digital hookup to camera – this solves the issue – which is also why the DJI adapter solves the issue. You can also solve the issue using a ferrite core around the 3.5mm – this is the round cylinder that is on USB cables – but you can buy them for like a dollar and put it on your cord and it will ground the cable. OR – you can use these MICs the BETTER way they are intended – which is with the built-in 32bit float – seriously – why does anyone use the transmitter at all?? – other then scratch audio – I get that its baked in audio – but the Preamps and sound that comes from the internal 32bit float is FAR superior than what the camera provides and is 32bit FLOAT!

    1. Oh super interesting! That $1 solution sounds solid, but being able to eliminate the cable entirely is also pretty sweet! And while I usually use the internal audio, in a less dynamic situation, the 24 bit and 32 bit sound almost identical. Having that 32 bit for dynamic situations though is incredible! I’m still shocked that cameras haven’t put 32 bit float internal yet

  8. Thanks for the video. I’ve had interference issues with my Comica XD wireless receiver wired into a Sony A7SIII and been trying to choose between Rode and DJI mic systems. The MI mount is a clean solution.

    1. So clean! I’m actually surprised that Rode hasn’t come up with a similar solution yet

  9. Canon has digital audio interface shoes on the R3 and R5C … hope they will make this work for Canon.

    1. Seems like all mics should be headed this direction with how popular wireless systems are these days!

  10. I cannot use the DJI mic 1 with a Sony A7Siii because of a high pitch interference when plugging in the cable from the receiver to the camera

    1. Interesting to hear! Well if you do decide to upgrade to the DJI Mic 2, at least you’ll know that won’t be an issue anymore!

  11. So I got into the DJI Mic 2 system when I purchased the Pocket 3. It came bundled with the Mic 2. The receiver was not included. Does DJI sell the Receiver individually. I already have two Mic 2 transmitters.

    1. I don’t think they do, but might be worth reaching out to them to explain your situation. Pretty sure the three package options are full set, rx + tx, or solo tx

  12. Make more x4 content please. Such as a REAL comparison of standard/premium/no lens. Using the new app update and editing. How to reframe in horizon lock (I can’t figure out where to enable this for the life of me), and most of all export settings and how they compare against each other. Like the different in bitrates and the final result and all the other options for export. Would like to know if one is worth the extra file size vs the other for different applications such as phone viewing and social media posts

  13. I been 3D printing for my camera gear using AnkerMake M5 for GoPro and DJI Mic Gen 1. Someone may design something for the new MI receiver

  14. I have the DJI Mic 1 and I SO bad wish the fuzzy bits could just fit in the case without taking the bag around.
