  1. I’ve got the first one! Let me know what questions you guys have and what you want to see from this thing!

    1. is the USB C/ SD Card door removable? i’m hoping someone comes out with a new door with a pass through for the USB cable

  2. The camera is designed to do what GoPros were originally designed to do, which has been forgotten by many people. It was not designed for people to sit in their homemade studios and film themselves. It’s an action camera.

    1. Yep. And they reiterated that many times to me. THIS CAMERA IS AN ACTION CAMERA. Pretty stoked on this one!

  3. Thanks for the vid! I can’t wait to receive mine. I’m glad to see it shipped 10 days earlier than last expected.

I plan to use mine mounted in the more rugged settings. I killed a 10 after I submerged it in the pool a day or two after I cracked the rear screen. The 10 will remain as my versatile hand cam…the mini mounted.

    1. Damn those screens! Amazing to use, but for sure the achilles heel of the camera. This will be a solid rugged little device for banging around

  4. I dig it. I know that some people are bummed about not being able to switch out the batteries on the go, but I agree with you on sort of being a “side camera” to your regular GoPro. This isn’t meant to be your main GoPro that you use constantly.

    1. what about with a external power supply seems it would be perfect for a hat cam with a USB C cable connected to a small USB power bank in a vest pocket etc.

    2. @BassMan Strikes Kayak Fishing That would be a solid setup and work perfectly!

  5. Immediately went and looked up the rain jacket. πŸ˜‚Solid review as usual, definitely might need to pick this little dude up (along with that jacket! Stylish af.)

  6. Interested in the audio. I intend to use it as my headcam when orienteering (running in the woods for 1-2 hours) since it is lighter than my Hero 10. I commentate as I compete and so sound is important. Sometimes I connect my Hero 10 to a Rode wireless and lavalier for better sound, unless the weather is bad since that combo is not waterproof, so am interested if this is possible with the mini.

    1. Use stick on dead cats. I get great sound on my Hero 10 doing that.

    2. Might be a tough setup to pull off. I haven’t tested the GoPro audio adapter on here yet, but if you’re filming with the rode wireless mics, then you could record internally to the mic and sync in post. A bit more work, but a decent option to make this work

    3. @David Manning Interesting thought but my Rode does not have any internal storage so I’d have to connect it to some kind of small storage device that accepts a microphone input and carry it in a belt. Doesn’t sound practical!

    4. @BassMan Strikes Kayak Fishing My hands are busy holding a map and sometimes pushing aside branches, carrying the camera on a stick is not practical.

  7. I am actually considering this mini. I already own a hero 9 and 10. For the right price I would pick this up. I know during black friday I will be able to get this at a military discount tax free. To me this would be worth 199 but no more than 250.

    1. I doubt that there will be Black Friday deals on this since it’s so new, but that military discount will certainly help!

  8. This will be good on Downhill mountain bikers. Mini will side under the helmet visor and the rear finger mounts is perfect

    1. Yeah, I think this came straight from their team riders and athletes. Seems like a lot of features that are geared towards extreme athletes

  9. Yep..a little jealous. Waiting on mine..but should arrive soon. Will be using it specifically for FPV flights. Better suited for FPV since no front screen to break and more rugged, smaller, lighter. Congrats on getting yours 1st. πŸŽ‰πŸ‘πŸ‘

    1. Which FPV setup are you using this with?! And also, if I wanted to get into FPV, which drone would you recommend for me?

    2. @David Manning Honestly..pick up the DJI AVATA drone. Excellent to get started with! I’ve got a few FPVs but will be mounting it to the AVATA myself. Barriers to entry are less and less in 2022 than ever before. Hit me up if you have any questions. πŸ‘

  10. Thanks for cruising by the GoPro office this week! Pumped that you’re enjoying the small but mighty Mini so far. What better way to test a GoPro than in the rain?! + Let us know if you need to swap that Aloha shirt for a Medium sometime πŸ’ͺπŸ˜‚

    1. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚please make a new and improved 360 cameraπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Š

    2. Thanks for having me! Pretty stoked to get that little surfer man out in some waves this weekend!

    3. Buy the most recently updated iPhone instead. You’ll have a phone, a better camera with better stability, a computer & everything. GoPro is just an overpriced wasting-money piece of junk.

    4. @Dragon Ball does the iPhone have horizon lock? Can you rotate it 360 degrees and maintain a level horizon? Can the iPhone withstand a drop? Does the iPhone cost double? Can you mount the iPhone on nearly everything and have it stay there?
The iPhone has a great camera but the use cases are not the same. I don’t see many people strapping an iPhone to a dirt bike

  11. I’d love to know if the heat sinks actually help to dissipate the heat. Waiting on that vid before I make any purchase πŸ˜‰

  12. I have really liked using the Mini. I don’t mind that it doesn’t take photos. It’s lighter, smaller, and has the same quality as its big brother. I also don’t mind that it doesn’t have a backscreen since I just mount it to my helmet and shoot in HyperView so I know I will get the shot.

  13. Hmmm, don’t really see the point of this camera to be honest, it’s definitely not miniπŸ˜…And at this price i’d rather buy an older GoPro model and have all the features available. Even for rugged sports you are really limited with that battery time and not being able to change batteries πŸ˜• A new GoPro Max would have been a lot more enticing!

  14. I think this would be a great second camera. Would be perfect for the POV on the chin piece of my motorcycle helmet. I never use my GoPro to take pictures and I only use the screen to change settings. I do wish the battery could be changed. What about an external mic? Can I use an external mic with it? Probably need a medium mod. Do they make a medium mod for it?

  15. Anyone considering the Mini for their FPV adventures, keep in mind the 11 Black you can take out the battery AND be 2g lighter than the Mini OR you can naked the 11 Black and presumably be lighter than the 10 Bones and definitely the Mini (for now).

  16. Here’s review items I’d like to see:
    – Does it Overheat? If so, how long compared to say the regular Hero 11 Black. or better compare it to the 11, 10 and 7.
    – Battery & Battery life – how does it compare to prior models? What is an “Embedded” battery? Can we swap it when it dies? Can it be replaced? Does it use the same batteries as the regular 11? Can you turn off Wifi to save battery?
    – Gyroflow – Does it work with Gyroflow so we can get super-smooth stabilization?
    – Accessories – is it compatible with the “Protective Housing” (waterproof down to 196ft)?

I’d really like a camera that doesn’t overheat, has great battery life and works with the “Protective Housing” so I can use it for diving. I don’t mess with the settings much underwater – so this might be perfect! Although without an interface, it might not let you turn off Wifi which could drain the battery…

  17. I love your videos man. I have the regular Hero 11 and my concern is when shooting in high quality and frames the battery tends to drain faster. I really would like to get this mini but the lack of option to swap a battery not sure if that is something for me. Also, do you know the lifespan on this battery in terms of how many times it can be charged? Thanks.

  18. My main and only real concern is how long/how many charge cycles that Internal battery will take before puffing up and rendering it useless

  19. Hey David, I’m a large! Anyway, thought it was worth a shot. Plenty of uses for a mini in event videography, on the alter at a wedding, on the band, at the bride’s table, etc. Also, I do a lot of miniature railroad stuff and this little camera will fit nicely on a gondola to be pushed around the layout. Lots of uses come to mind. And, it never rains in Southern California!
