  1. The Panasonic smashes the other camera’s. Still though. I almost feel like that sort of money you might as well grab a Sony A6700 πŸ˜…Unless you really need the build in ND filters and stuff.

    1. @George Sealy screw on ND’s are pretty affordable and there’s decent variable ND’s for not that much money. I use a A7ii myself and it’s perfectly manageable really.

    2. @Synthetic_Future Sure, I use regular NDs too. I use them with my X-T4 and GFX100. It’s just nice to be able to have them built-in for use with any lens.

    3. @getFMLR camera announced in 2021. 4k 60fps, 10 bit, if I’m not mistaken 1080p 120fps. Only obvious downside is crop sensor but considering how good crop lenses are these days that’s hardly a downside. For some reason delayed a lot.

The A6600 honestly isn’t a bad choice as well although 4k 30 is maybe not the best for everyone =)

    4. @Synthetic_Future not sure what you consider announced but there is no official confirmation from Sony on either specs or release date….what you’re talking about is leaks or rumours. As of today there is no Sony a6700.

  2. super cool, miss my hpx170 , and vx’s I jus bought a very nice vx2000 on ebay for $240. very good condition

  3. I have the C100 Mark I, and it produces great HD video. I had it upgraded to DPAF when the option became available. The key is to use a high-quality lens. Then you can produce really great stuff. It also can be used with an Atomos Ninja 2 recorder, which further upgrades the video quality. I love the built-in ND filters and other cinema features.

    1. I also have the Canon C100 Mark I with the Atomos Ninja V and it is wonderful! The Ninja shows what I am capturing with an anamorphic lens unsqueezed. I also love that the Ninja records in ProRes 4.2.2 HQ 24fps. Goes right into my Final Cut Pro 6 editor on the G5 Mac to make editing easy.

    1. @James BGH1 is a nice boxy cam, but it lacks one important thing, which is the internal ND filter

  4. I’ve shot a feature film, and many short films and music videos, with my FS7 Mark II. Wonderful tool.

  5. C100 Mkii is still capable of legit good-looking video that is easy to edit. All you really lose is the flexibility of cropping in like you can on 4k files – so you have to frame more carefully.

  6. I don’t really have a use for (or interest in) a Cine-Camera, but it was still a great video πŸ™‚

  7. I used mpb to get my c100 mk 2 . Good company.
Im check the orders prices now. I seriously doubt these cams can be had for that price though (besides the c100)

  8. Where do you guys get your prices from? EVA1s used cost about 4 times and about double used in okay condition?

    1. Yup..true…of all of these the EVA doesn’t cost anywhere near that….the others I have seen at that price point barely.

  9. I wish you had some Blackmagic Design cameras in this list. The OG Ursa (or Ursa Mini 4K) especially. In ‘non-cine’ or hybrid form factors, I would say the BM Pocket 6K/4K, Lumix S5 (OG), Lumix GH5 all contend pretty well, especially with the All-I codec and 6K options

  10. I rented a c100 Mark 2 a few years back to shoot some re enactemtn scenes for a documentary I was shooting for a “client” (read: :I got scammed by the client: but that’s another story) and I had only ever shot on my 5D2, T1i and T3i … this was my first experience on a proper camera and man … I LOVED IT! It was hard going back to the 5d2 for video. Thankfully I mostly shoot talking heads so.

Now my main is an EOS R.

  11. I’d love to see panasonic release a successor to the EVA. The camera was SO close to being good, but failed to stick the landing. Really it’s a better viewfinder and a couple firm wear upgrades (move some of the deeper menu items to more logical places and stop turning off my xlr ports when swapping frame rates) away from being awesome. If you were to toss in the new auto focus system you’d have a good low budget competitor to the Sony FX6. Although part of the problem with the EVA – 01 at launch was the GH5 for most applications and use cases was just so much better bang for your buck.
