    1. Some of us followed him, when he was doing funky airsoft setups.
      Just saying.

  1. Wonderful little camera, just like the X100V.

Not really worth upgrading to if you already own any of the X100 models though.

    1. Not sure about that. I still have my X100T and I still use it a lot. But I think this will be a significant upgrade in many ways.

  2. Every time fuji release a rangefinder style body, my hopium levels for a GFX 50R successor increase.

  3. I love the fact that Kai and Lok are still such close friends. You guys have been friends almost twice as long as I’ve known my Wife. Really blows my mind how long it’s been since the DigitalRev days, and when I got into photography.

    1. Knowing that you have a Canon EOS R100, we can now calculate your 10 years wedding anniversary.

    2. and the fact that they still do similar format and narration, something that I’m grateful to have both of them in this channel

    3. I remember watching their videos back when they were with DigitalRev or whatever it was called. Feels like over 10 years ago. I just placed a pre-order for an X100VI even though I already have a Ricoh GR III. Iโ€™m about to sell my Nikon D750 and lens to cover part of this purchase, leaving me with no DSLR or full-frame. I feel like these little cameras have made me like photography again.

    1. Yea people who pre-order this new camera without waiting a few months for quality control issues are wild. The Made in China VI will have issues.

    2. I still have a four, and when I upgrade, it’ll be to a V, not a VI. I don’t want a China-made camera. Especially at a premium price. Misstep by Fuji, imo.

    3. This isn’t the 1980s anymore. Quality electronics are made all over Asia and India. Fujifilm’s own X-T5 is made in China, and so are iPhones.

    4. @@Skux720 And I own neither. It’s more about their anti-human practices than anything. But let’s not kid ourselves, TONS of landfill-bound junk is still made in China in 2024. “MIJ” was a badge of honor for the X100 series. No more, I guess.

  4. I called this back when the x100v was being scalped. if you scalp a product long enough, the retailer raises the price. i bought an x100f and that price tag was already too much. 1700 is ridiculous. Im fully out on the x100 line now.

    1. I 100% agree. fuji saw people were paying hundreds over sticker and now they raised their price to aftermarket price.

    2. @@marooned2614 no definitely not inflation. inflation is made up by rich people to convince dumb people to pay them more money. look at egg profits after inflation, they basically matched inflation.

    3. @@Kev_nish i wouldnt even be surprised if fuji discontinued the xe4 and xpro 3 because they competed with the x100 line.

    4. Fuji are crazy putting such a price on fix lense camera. I do understand Leica do that but Fuji. Gimme a break. Ricoh are also pushing their luck with griii price range. Both shouldn’t be above 700-800 USD.

  5. After seeing this video, I felt the urge to get my X100V and go out to take photos. That camera made me fall in love with photography. It’s a shame that I haven’t been able to go out on weekends recently since I’ve been busy with life stuff. But every time I do go out with it, I am reminded of how nice of an experience it is.

    1. @@jambowinniefell5091 as tempting as it sounds to sell it for much higher than I paid, I don’t think I will. For one, its sentimental value is irreplaceable. And two, I don’t see those new features being something I need, especially if I’m already so satisfied with the X100V.

    2. I wouldn’t draw too much negativity towards the lack of shooting photographs. In the grand scheme of things this is just a small break. It’s better to have less but meaningful sessions than more sessions just for the sake of shooting.

  6. The 5:4 ratio is something people have been begging for, for a long time. I’m so glad it’s finally here! I really doubt they’d bring it to older cameras via software updates but it would be so amazing to have it on my X-T3 and X100T.

  7. its so cool that you still make these videos ive watched you 10+ years ago

  8. Kai, you have improved!

Holding three X100 and haven’t dropped even one ๐Ÿคฃ

  9. Opening the X100 VI video and hearing Lok behind the camera is a bonus as great as any improvement they could have made to the camera.

  10. Nice video! The best thing about a tilt screen is the โ€street stealth modeโ€ waist or hip high. No one knows or make not as much as if you press it up against tour face. A Flip screen just asks to be broken.

    1. *”A Flip screen just asks to be broken.”* That *also includes* just delicate fragile components _in general_ that extrude from small yet pricey equipment. _I learned that one the hard way_ . My sony zv-1 now sits idle in a closet, where it’s been for almost 2 years, awaiting some faraway day to be repaired, from an incident that while mounted on an inches high desktop type mini-tripod, a minor unintentional hip bump to a desktop edge resulted in the zv-1 to merely topple forward onto a desktop surface. That’s it – it literally tipped over, forward-facing, a matter of a few *inches* , _no lie_ !! Although thankfully the flip screen survived intact the barrel of the then-extended lens auto-retracted upon impact… After restarting and a few usages, it grew obvious that manually tapping the screen was also required to focus-assist the previously rock-solid reliable lightning quick autofocus, the lens would lose focus *and* the entire lens barrel would inexplicably retract, close, the camera *turn off* , until finally- after a few days- the ZV-1 _refused to even turn back on at all_ , a status it’s been in ever since, like being comatose… yes, very tragic, irritatingly confusing yet absolutely true story. Luckily not my only decent camera. [ Note: BTW, unit was purchased as “Open Box” Mint Condition on Ebay and no warranty info or any transferable warranty status at all received with device at purchase… most warranties cover defects not damages and the unit at the time was not insured at all for accidental yet repairable damages or anything else it was completely uninsured…and now broken. ]

  11. Yeah keeping my x100v. The updates are minimal at best, and do not seem to affect picture quality. Thanks for the great review as always!

  12. Took my x100v to NYC Chinatown. Loved it. Fantastic. 0 Editing, just uploaded the whole album for my friends in an instant. Just pre-ordered the x100vi this morning. Thanks, Kai!

  13. I’ve no idea what Lok is saying ever, but somehow I love watching you guys banter with each other.

  14. How wild is that I started following you 2, 11 years ago in HK, and a decade later, I still follow you 2 in London, now.
Your friendship is truly something sacred ! Love to see you guys keep going at it.

And yes, the X100VI looks like a lovely camera that could. I can’t wait for it to go out of order as soon as the bloody produce… I mean bloody hipsters scalpers have sucked its stocks dry once again to sell them double price on Ebay…
