I’ve worked with both cameras but instead opted for a used copy of the X-E2 and a new X-E3. I keep my lenses simple: 16mm, 27mm, and the standard 18-55mm 2.8/4 kit lens. These two Fuji cameras have been able to handle all of my regular photographic needs outside of wildlife.
Two of my favorite youtubers! Always amazing shots Faizal. I personally would like the simplicity of the X100 series. But the XE series like the XE1 is like $250 in the used market. Slap on one of the smaller primes (or even a 18-55mm kit) and you have a solid setup.
If you’re going with an older X-E*, X-E2(s) or X-E3 are the ones to go for. Especially the difference in price between 1 and 2 is small for such a big upgrade. Actually trying to find an X-E2 right now to figure out if that’s not completely sufficient for my needs (and skill).
@Jan Oh yes! I meant to just speak in general about XE systems. But yes! The XE2 is priced similarly in the used market, unfortunately they’re always sold out
@j d Yup! Sold out at the professional sellers, no offers in forums or eBay – or massively overpriced. Patience is key 😎
I am a viewfinder guy. Want to actually see what I am shooting. I chose the X100V for its larger and higher resolution EVF.
Your video is therapeutic for me. The calm vibe and voice has never failed to soothe my raging soul. It also inspires me to continue with photography even though I’m shooting everything with my iPhone 11. I saw an XE2 a while back that’s within my budget, but never went for it. It’s all because I find that I enjoy taking photos with my iPhone and there’s no need for a dedicated camera at the moment because I shoot for fun.

Absolutely amazing images! Fantastic locations and subjects. Thanks for sharing and taking us on your adventures! Simplicity I can not agree more. Learned to just take one camera and or one camera and one prime lens!
I always see people say the x100v is a great beginner camera (which it is), but it’s almost better for someone who has a lot of experience with 35mm and knows for sure that’s their main focal length. Love the x100 but always find myself reaching for my xpro.
If you are starting with photography – interchangeable lens system.
If you are advanced using zoom system and want to challenge yourself – fixed lens system, preferably something with a built in lens like x100 so you don’t have an option to change the lens.
That’s why the x100 lineup is so amazing, you have the amazing fuji recipes, compact form factor, fixed lens – all you have to do is grab the camera and start shooting, without thinking about anything else but capture the moment and enjoy photography at it’s purest form. It’s a detox camera.
I’ve photographed for over 40 years, but have never really done any video. Would welcome your suggestions on how to begin, do’s & don’ts, what software to edit with, etc. Thanks.
I have had the XE4 since launch. In term of shooting experience, I have less fun shooting with the XE4 than the X100S, which I traded in when I bought the XE4. I think my most gripe is the build quality of the body, buttons and dials. It feels very cheap. The buttons flush to the body with little travel. The dials feel very cheap with loosy feeling. I can’t count how many times I accidentally moved the front dial, which controls iso thanks to lack of iso dial, and ruin dozens of photos because it was at iso12800 in stead of Auto3200.
I loved my 100V but in the end I discovered that I was more of a long lens type of guy.
loved it sold it moved on.
Be lucky stay safe.
The B&W water reflection shot at 3:59 is so beautiful.
That intro sequence was so … cinematic 🫣👌
Awesome work man, love the videos!
I live in Connecticut, I’ll have to go shoot in Boston soon, I’ll have to reach out to you!
The sights, sounds, and look of your videos recently remind me a lot of a woody allen film. I love it!
If you ever shoot a documentary or film of any kind i will watch it. Your composition always speaks to me.
After over one year with Fuji I am still not sure if I would be happy with the x100v and the two converter lenses. I want a Portrait lens like the Sigma 56mm or the 90mm one. I want my 35mm f/1.4.
Awesome video as per usual! I was wondering what camera do you use to film your B-roll?
If Fujifilm made their cameras that allowed their raw photos to be edited in Lightroom without the worm artifacts, I’d buy another one. But for that reason, I sold my X-E4. That was the only flaw with that camera besides the fact that it wasn’t weather sealed and the fact that most of their native lenses are old and outdated, in my opinion. But the worm artifacts were definitely a deal breaker for me
Talk about good timing, have watched all your videos on these two cameras and am deciding between the two right now.
