Great video again David, I must admit, the quick release isn’t something I even thought of, but will be looking into straight away. I’ve been hunting for the best suction cups for doing external 3rd person car shots and I’ll see if I can get the falcam ones here in Scotland.
I use RAM mounts for a lot of my gear as I used to work on military sites designing and deploying sonar technology and everything from RAM mounts was great at holding up against the harsh seas. Camera mounts to Laptop mounting gear, I’ve put my faith in their stuff quite a bit over the years.
Another pole mount I like is the longer fixed position carbon fibre poles. Just really good for car stuff I do too be honest, wouldn’t be sure where you could use it anywhere else. I just need it for the rigidity it provides while going at high speeds.
Love me some RAM mounts! Those things are super solid! As for the solid carbon fiber poles, they’re for sure the most ideal for longer pole mount setups because they don’t bow at all or sway as much. I just tend not to use them because they’re harder to pack along for an adventure. Perfect for car mounts though!
My husband just picked up an x3. I still use the 2. Does the quick reader work with the 2 or just the 3?
It’s specific to the X3 if you’re trying to mount it to the side of the camera, but if you use it like I do, you can take the SD card from either of your cameras, pop them in the reader, then plug that into your iPhone👍
Always informative! Thank you! Is the quick mount you mention any better than the Insta360 quick mount?
The Insta360 version is pretty awesome as well, but the Falcam system has a bit more versatility as far as the amount of accessories they have for it. I use it on all of my big cameras as well. Both are super solid though!
Don’t get the short selfie stick wet with saltwater. Mine disintegrated after one day. Wasn’t submerged at all.
I bought the 9 and 1/2 ft carbon fiber stick and took it to the Bahamas 2 weeks ago and it failed after 2 days of use. Could be the saltwater 🤷🏻♂️
@BRUSHWORKS417 could be. Mine had some sort of stickie tape in it also. That’s what turned to gum. I’ve got all the pieces, and some 2 part epoxy, I’m going to see if I can do a better glue job this time.
I’ve about sold myself on the 270 pro selfie stick, just in case the CF stick from insta was junk also.
Salt water is the enemy of all things metal/plastic. As soon as I’m out of the water, I fresh water rinse all of my gear immediately. Salt is BRUTAL!
@David Manning very true. Gotta be quick about it too!
4:19 I guessed it! I yelled out falcam quick release mounts… 😂 Any piece of gear that I have with a 1/4 mount would mostlikely have one installed 😅
They’ve changed almost every aspect of how I shoot things with cameras these days🙌
Come up with a way to mount via quick release on the bike in both directions. I’m sure something can be cobbled together that would be better than the insta360 mounts.
20 years David!!! But your only look about 19 years old dude!
Hahahaa! Working hard to stay that way, but I’m ticking 40 this November!
Thoughts on the sandisk extreme Pro. Better? or doesnt matter?
I think they’re overkill. You will get faster transfer rates to your computer when uploading, but you won’t see performance improvement while in the camera
Do you ever use the lens covers? I hear mixed things about em.
I’m not a big fan of them unless I know I’m going to put my camera in real danger. I always keep a pair in my bag though. Rumor has it that they’re developing a new and improved version as well!
There IS a DJI specific receiver mount available for the X3 now. Its 3D printed, so probably isn’t as strong as the Insta360 product, but it IS fully invisible.
Its called the Xmount 360
I have it it actually mounts up really solid
Awesome man, I’ll check it out! Kind of wild that Ulanzi hasn’t made one that’s for the DJI mic with how popular that thing is!
@David Manning yeah Im surprised Ulanzi havent picked up on it too! They’d sell trucks of them if they made it out of aluminium (or whatever they make the pt-20 out of!)
Love your videos, man! It’s fun, on point and very informative! A subscriber from the Philippines. More power to you!
Love you watching and hopefully one day soon we’ll come out there to visit the Philippines! It’s high on our travel list!!!
I would add a ground stake/spike to the list!
You can buy them but I’m cheap so I ground down an old screwdriver to a point and epoxied a 1/4 20 threaded rod to the handle end. To me it’s just so convenient to screw the selfie stick to it and stick it in the dirt, grass, or even cracks in wood, rocks, or busted up concrete and the 360 cameras are very forgiving when the angle isn’t exactly straight up and down.
That’s super clever! I wonder if I could find a spike that’s designed for tripods to screw into the bottom of the invisible selfie stick. Something predesigned for this!
I’d add some kind of super clamp (maybe the smaller Smallrig version) as another good addition, especially for things the suction cup won’t work on, as well as an alternative for mounting on a bike/motorcycle/autogyro.
Super clamps are super useful! I use them for a ton of other mounts, but for some reason haven’t used them much with the Insta360. I’ll get testing with it though, seems like it would be ideal!
There is an attachment for using the DJI it works awesome
You have a link to it at all?
Totally welcome can’t wait to see your video on it and your opinions you have definitely been an influence on my journey into YouTube.
david you are best man love watching your ideas
Well you’re the best for watching!!!
Two questions… Have you seen a mic mount that DOES work with the DJI mic? And do you know of any invisible selfie sticks that float in the water? Thank you.
Negative on both fronts! The floating selfie sticks that I’ve used are all too thick to hide in the seam line, so I just hold on real tight🤣
I find a dive case for under water helped with stitching issues.
Whats better between the falcan? Falcon? System…or the snap mount? Like is it safer? Faster? Thanks!
Two must-have items that you didn’t list are; 1 – the X3 Sticky Lens guards to keep those pretty lenses scratch free, and 2 – a clamp mount like the ULANZI Super Clamp Camera Clamp Mount. This mount allows you to clamp onto railings, handlebars, poles, boards, etc. and adds a lot of mounting options for your camera. Amazon sells one with a 1/4-20 ball head adaptor for about $20.
