This camera is just as amazing as the first day I bought it. It is my favourite digital camera and the nikon FM3a is my favourite analog camera.
EDIT: I believe that the only difference between v and f is video ability, screen and weather sealed, which are things that don’t matter at all to me. The image quality is debatable, I cant see a difference
and close-focusing wide-open sharpness, but I never hit that sore point on my X100F so I haven’t felt the need for the upgrade =)
but having an X-Pro3 and using it’s screen to shoot at waist-level, I really wish I had that on the X100F too!
Best way for people to get into photography, spend less on an older camera that almost has the specs of newer camera. There are so many hidden gems out there, if you understand the limitations. Joy of photography not specs! 🙂
Okay micro four thirds
my very first Fuji camera was a used X100F bought in Nov 2020, and since then I’ve bought 2 more more capable Fuji cameras and thought I’d lose touch with the X100F, but then I bought a Glimmerglass 1 filter for it, stuck it on Acros, used the digital zoom, and I’ve been having a blast! 100% large-printable photos, even at 70mm digital zoom! Love love love it =)
I’ve posted two X100F photos on r/fujifilm, both using the digital zoom, one with Glimmerglass 1 filter and the other without, if you want to check out the quality that’s possible straight-out-of-camera =)
1. X100F – Walkie-Talkie, Leadenhall building, and Gherkin, London
2. London June 4th | X100F + GlimmerGlass 1
That steady rising price is what’s stopping me from investing in one. Great captures, as usual.
Lol, I was in process of making a video about x100f and then I saw your title 🙂 The x100f is definitely a great camera, and you proved it again with your work. Great video Faizal!
Loving your colour grading. The scenes in the city are very nice, would like to know your process? Thanks mate.
The X100f is my daily carry camera. I love it to death and still use it for professional work. The black and whites you can get out this camera are astounding. Though I struggle with dialing in color in camera, that just means there’s all the more room to grow.
Definitely agree with the sentiment on touch screens, have touch turned off on all my cameras
When it comes to image quality I’d guess that the new lens makes more of a difference than the new sensor or processor.
no difference between my D800 and my new Z7ii and I have some really good glass
Hey I just wanna say I really appreciate you making this video. I had the x100f at the same time you started using it back a while ago and since then I haven’t used it much since I started shooting film. I forgot how much this camera did for me and got me into photography and the passion it brought to me! Thank you
I am a film shooter and have been wanting a fuji for film Sim. Bought one back in May, and I have loved every moment with this camera. Didn’t even take it being 5 years old into consideration. I love it so much
The problem with the X100v wasn’t the removal of the D-pad but the placement of the joystick that replaced it.
It was positioned exactly where most peoples thumbs rested which mean I needed, and many others needed, to buy a thumb rest… or lock the joystick out of use via the menu settings.
The joystick should have positioned exactly where the D-pad had been.
Touch screen autofocus is kind of awesome, although more times than not I move the point when I don’t want to. Otherwise I’m with you–I’ve never found a use for any of the other touch features.
I love my x100f, I got the wcl and the tcl as well it’s been a nice addition
I purchased the x100f some years ago and loved it but ended up selling it because of the fixed focal length. I recently purchased the x100s from mpb and they sent me a x100v for some reason! Long story short I will always love the x100 series cameras. The film sims and simplicity of shooting gives you an experience I have never gotten from using any other camera.
I took a short photography course a few years ago, and after discussing how to make my images look more filmic I was recommended the x100f. I bought it in March 2020 and a week later the UK went into lockdown and I rarely left the house for 18 months. I still haven’t picked up the camera and was really beginning to regret making such a big purchase but your video has definitely inspired to get it out of the box and give it a go.
For very long I was a Canon guy since I switched to the F in January 22. I fell in love at the very first moment and I never since then used my Canon anymore. What a great piece of gear still in 2022!
To be fair when it comes to image quality in photo, they didn’t inproved that much in the last 8/9 years ( just look on how amazing the X-T1 still looks ! and that thing was released in 2014 ! ) compared to the video quality. ( coming from bad 1080p in 2014 to insane 4K based on 6/7K )
For photo it’s mostly more pixel to zoom better in photos and things like better AF, so yeah “old” photo cam are still pretty good even nowday, it’s just that modern cam are more convenient ( like with wifi or bluetooth and things like that ) than older cams.
I love when new cameras come out, because it means that there will be a lot of second hand cameras to choose from 😂. I’m only doing photography as a hobby and posting on Instagram, I don’t need the latest and greatest. I think even if a camera is 7-8 years old the technology behind it is still good.
I bought mine 2 years ago, never used my a7III since.. So people, if you thought about buying this camera on & off, go buy it. I print alot of my x100f images on my pro100s printer, its good! focal lenght? Prime all the way! Thanks for sharing this video FW 🙂
